Quite an interesting day in San Francisco when First Lady Michelle Obama, California’s First Lady Maria Shriver, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom joined hundreds of volunteers to build a new playground at Bret Harte Elementary School. After that event, the motorcades of dignitaries traveled to the heart of downtown where they joined House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to address a packed house of over 5,000 attendees of the 2009 National Conference on Volunteering & Service. The logistics and planning were complicated, detailed and intense (as you can imagine). Here’s some photos from the event:
